    Emergency!!?
I forgot to take my chicken breasts out of the freezer for dinner tonight. Is there any way to thaw them out quickly and safely? Please say yes. :-(

You can microwave them on defrost–but that will damage the taste greatly.

You can also thaw them in warm water, which goes against the package directions, but I did it for years and never had a problem.

    I’m a vegetarian now, though…

try a defrost setting on microwave, or put chicken wrapped into a bowl of cold water and change water every 15 mins for an hour. If thawing a turkey it takes about 5hours.

Throw them in the oven frozen and bake! I just put them in corning wear covered with salt & pepper. When I see the bottom full of juices I just uncover and bake a while longer!! You can do different things with them when they are done!

ok-you know what I do, I actually leave them on the counter for about 5 hours-they do get cooked so pashaw to the diseases-

the other way is to put them in a bowl of cool water and leave them out for around the same time-changing the water in half hour intervals but I prefer the above.

Of course, the nuker works too!

If they are boneless, but frozen together, run them under warm tap water and pry them gently apart. If they are bone in you can submerge them in warm tap water til you can separate them, then use your microwave on the defrost setting or the lowest power setting. Depending on how you were planning to cook them, you could also drop them in boiling water for a few minutes. Good luck

Defrost in the Microwave? Cut them in small pieces (if that’s okay) and put them in a air tight container in some warm (not hot) water. Change water frequently…

Submerge them in cold water. Change the water if it takes more than 30 minutes.

Microwave them on the defrost cycle. WARNING, this may partially cook them.

    lol – shame!!!

you can zap em but that kinda sux…you could also wrap them in a batter and cook em fast in the oven, break off the burned batter and fry em in a lil olive oil and garlic to get a ‘finish’…you only need to get the centres to 70 degrees – yoiu got a meat thermometer?

otherwise – use a hammer to smash them into lil goujons and, again, fry in olive oil

    email me for recipes

Yes thaw them under cold running water, until they are defrosted. You can thaw them this way if they are in a block or if they are individually packaged. it uses a bit of water but they wont partially cook like they do in the microwave and they thaw much faster than just leaving them out. expect 20-30 min if they are individually frozen and an hour to an hour and a half if they are in a big block place them in their package in a large container so they will be surrounded by water as well as having water running over them. you can defrost them directly in cold water without a package as long as it’s ok if they absorb some of the water , because they will hope this helps

Happens to me all the time! But since I live pretty close to where I work, I just make a quick trip home during lunch and put the packages of chicken in the sink with some nice hot water. It takes about three or four hours for about 4 lbs of chicken breasts to defrost completely. Otherwise, use the defrost mode on your microwave. The only issue with this method is that you’ll end up with slightly cooked chicken.
