My silver wedding ring causing me a rash? What is the solution. I love my ring. I have had it for 15months and now its starts causing my skin to react with a itchy burning rash… what will help.
Sound like a nickle allergy. You could try coating the inside of the ring with clear nail polish. My wife has a similar problem and can only wear 14 carat gold or higher. References :
It’s almost certainly an allergy to silver. Many people can develop allergies to certain metals who were never allergic before. You can try coating the inside of the ring but the outside of the ring is still going to be touching the other fingers so that may not completely solve the problem. A long-term solution is to get a ring that looks similar but made of titanium or platinum. Also, some people with allergies to silver, lower-karat gold, or nickel can tolerate stainless steel. A jeweler can have the ring rhodium coated (this is one of the coatings that gives white gold its color) it costs about $20 to have done and should stop the allergic reaction. References : owner of an online wedding store http://www.catchthebouquet.com.au
